The Department of the Interior requests nominations for the new Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee (STAC). Deb Haaland, the Secretary of the Interior, will appoint one Tribal member from each of the 12 Bureau of Indian Affairs Regions to serve on a staggered two-year term.
According to the Department, the STAC will ensure Tribal leaders have direct and consistent communications with Department officials. The STAC will facilitate discussions on intergovernmental responsibilities, share information, and provide recommendations regarding programs and funding impacting Tribal nations.
Nominees must be elected or designated Tribal officials who can represent the views of the Tribes in their region.
