GAO Seeks Nominations for First Ever Tribal Advisory Council

Apr 27, 2022 | Insights

On April 7, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) announced plans to form its first Tribal Advisory Council (TAC). GAO is calling for nominations to fill 15 positions.

The TAC will advise GAO on vital and emerging issues affecting Tribes and Indigenous peoples and provide input into GAO’s strategic goals and priorities.  This may include informing GAO of emerging topics of interest or concern, helping identify relevant stakeholders to ensure GAO work includes a diverse range of tribal and indigenous perspectives, and providing advice to GAO on its processes for working with Tribes.

The nominations are due by May 20, 2022.  GAO is considering nominees who are elected or appointed Tribal leaders or expert advisors on Tribal and Indigenous issues. More information and the process for submitting a nomination can be found on the GAO’s website: www.gao.gov/about/what-gao-does/tribal-advisory-council.
