Partner Thomasina Real Bird Participates in Indigenous Law Virtual Graduation for Class of 2020

We are excited to announce that Thomasina Real Bird (Ihanktonwan), president of the National Native American Bar Association and partner with Patterson Earnhart Real Bird & Wilson LLP, joined U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland (Laguna Pueblo; D-NM) and U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids (Ho-Chunk; D-KS) to congratulate the Class of 2020 law school graduates through a national online graduation ceremony. The Indigenous Law Virtual Graduation took place on Friday, May 29.

Appearing were a number distinguished scholars, judges, and advocates for Indian Country, including U.S. District Court Judge Diane Humetewa (Hopi); Chief Judge Greg Bigler (Euchee) of the Mvskoke/Creek Nation; Stacy Leeds (Cherokee), vice chancellor for economic development, dean emeritus, and professor of law at the University of Arkansas; and Walter Echo-Hawk (Pawnee), native rights attorney and author.

The live Indigenous Law Virtual Graduation incorporated a welcome, prayer, video remarks, and commencement address by prominent indigenous leaders, and recognition of each graduate by name, school, and tribal affiliation(s).
